  •    Conference on Managing India’s Trade Deficit with Large Trading Partners: Lessons and Prospects
    IIFT organized a conference on “India’s Trade Deficit with major Trading Partners: Lessons and prospects” at IIFT campus, New Delhi on 23rd September, 2015 in cooperation with DFID India, Knowledge Partnership Programme (KPP) and IPE Global. Dr. Bibek Debroy, Member, NITI Aayog, Mr. Rajani Ranjan Rashmi, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, Govt. of India graced the event along with Dr. Surajit Mitra, Director, IIFT, Dr. Sunil Mitra, Team Leader KPP and Mr. Cedrik Schurich, Head DFID India Trade Policy Unit (iTPU).

  •   Conference on "Macroeconomic Stabilization Policy in an Era of Low Growth" organized on December 18, 2012 at IIFT Delhi Campus. As part of the Delhi Economics Conclave being organized during December 16-20, 2012 the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), New Delhi hosted a one day Conference on "Macroeconomic Stabilization Policy in an Era of Low Growth" on December 18, 2012 at IIFT premises. The Conference is being sponsored by the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. The Conference brought together eminent resource persons from multilateral bodies like ADB, policy makers, academicians, researchers and industry experts to deliberate on the macroeconomic policies for dealing with this global uncertainty. The one-day Conference at IIFT had three special sessions on the following themes:

    a) Does Monetary Policy Matter for Long-run Growth? Evidences from Emerging Economies
    b) Indian Financial Market: Challenges and Policy Response
    c) Financial Sector Liberalization and Managing Capital Flows: Policy Options for Emerging and Developing Countries

    The Guest of Honour for the Inaugural Function was Dr. Y. V. Reddy, Former Governor, Reserve Bank of India. Dr. Surajit Mitra, Director, IIFT gave an introduction to the Conference, while Dr. Raghuram Rajan, Chief Economic Advisor, Ministry of Finance delivered a special address during the inaugural function. The other eminent resource persons who participated in the Conference include among others, Dr. Cyn-Young Park, Assistant Chief Economist, Asian Development Bank; Shri T. C. A. Ranganathan, Chairman and Managing Director, EXIM Bank of India; Dr. HAC Prasad, Senior Economic Advisor, Ministry of Finance; Shri. R V Verma, Chairman & Managing Director, National Housing Bank; Mr. Abheek Barua, Chief Economist and Senior Vice President of HDFC Bank; Shri Anil Bisen, Economic Advisor, Ministry of Finance and Dr. Abhijit Sen Gupta, Senior Economics Officer, ADB, New Delhi.
